This section of my website is really for me as much as it is for my potential clients. It’s an amalgamation of the clarifications and conversations I’ve had with clients over the years about various kinds of work expectations. Everyone has had a bad experience with a contractor pulling a fast one or hitting you with some after-the-fact sticker shock, and I’d love to avoid that by outlining some clear product-and-service policies.
I pride myself in being forthcoming and honest… I always strive to give it to you straight. I don’t say I can do something if I feel in my gut that something is outside of my scope or ability. My basic conversation template around the handshake-agreement right before I start working is to just tell you how I will do something. Plan, procedure, equipment involved, outcome, likely time involved, and execution. If it makes sense to you, then we proceed forward.
My Labor Policies
As a solo entrepreneur, I am the only person who will be working on your project, and these policies are a reflection of my commitment to fair and sustainable work practices. I believe they make for good statesmanship and provide a sound framework for a harmonious client-consultant business relationship.
1. Fair Compensation
My pricing is based on a fair hourly wage ($35/hour) that reflects my skills, experience, and the cost of doing business. This ensures I can dedicate myself to providing you with high-quality service while also supporting myself in my educational and holistic endeavors.
I also have another policy related to this policy and my respectful scheduling policy; in the event I am invited to come tour your potential garden space and we spend a lengthy amount of time doing construction intake and design discussion, I ask to be paid for this time. However, the compensated time will be credited towards an actual project if you decide you like the project plan we come up with to implement.
2. Respectful Scheduling
I will work with you to create a project timeline that is both efficient and realistic. I am committed to respecting agreed-upon hours and ensuring I have adequate time for rest and personal commitments. This approach helps prevent burnout and allows me to show up for your project with energy and focus.
3. Safety First
Your property and my well-being are a top priority. I am trained in proper gardening techniques and will use appropriate tools and safety equipment. If a job presents a significant safety risk that cannot be mitigated, I reserve the right to decline or modify the work. This is to ensure a safe and successful outcome for everyone.
4. Clear Communication
I am committed to maintaining open and honest communication throughout our project. I will provide you with clear updates and will be available to answer any questions you may have. Your feedback is important and helps me ensure the final result meets your expectations.
I look forward to working with you to create a beautiful and thriving garden.
